 2024 Public Notice of Grievance Hearings

PUBLIC NOTICE-  

The Bakersfield Selectboard was recently contacted by residents of the Joyal Rd/Witchcat Rd area who were concerned about explosions heard in their neighborhood on May 23, 2024. There were reportedly three explosions between 9:00 and 11:00am. THE SELECT BOARD WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL BAKERSFIELD RESIDENTS THAT TANNERITE (ONCE MIXED) AND FIREWORKS, REQUIRE AN EXPLOSIVES LICENSE AND A PERMIT FROM THE BAKERSFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT. If you plan to use Tannerite or set off fireworks, please be sure that you are in compliance with these regulations. As a courtesy, please advise your neighbors of planned explosions. Violators of these regulations should be reported to the Vermont State Police. Questions can be asked in person at Regular Select Board meetings or sent to the selectboard at: townofbakersfield@gmail.com

OPEN MEETING LAW COMPLAINT PROCESS – Open Meeting Law complaints directed to the Town of Bakersfield must be filed with the Select Board by email or mailed to Town of Bakersfield, PO Box 203, Bakersfield, VT 05441. The written notice of complaint must allege a specific violation of the Open Meeting Law, identify the public body that committed the alleged violation, and request a specific cure of such violation. Upon receipt of written notice of alleged violation, the public body will respond publicly to the alleged violation within 10 calendar days by: acknowledging the violation of this subchapter and stating an intent to cure the violation within 14 calendar days; or stating that the public body has determined that no violation has occurred and that no cure is necessary. Failure of a public body to respond to a written notice of alleged violation within 10 calendar days will be treated as a denial of the violation for purposes of enforcement of the Open Meeting Law.
